George Albert Harris

. Born in San Francisco on January 24, 1913, Harris was, like many of his fellows, a student of the California School of Fine Arts. He had a long career as an artist-producing a mural at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce building as well as easel works, including some that hang in the Library of Congress. He also was a professor of art at Stanford University, taught at Notre Dame College in Belmont and later at Emanuel College in Boston from 1968-70. In the 1970s he lived in England and taught at New England College in Sussex until 1978, moving to southern France two years later and continuing to paint up to his death on Sept. 25,1991.
